11 Free Things to Do in Latchi with Kids

If you’re visiting Latchi in Cyprus with your family, you’ll be glad to know that there are plenty of free things to do, especially if you have little ones to entertain! Whether you’re staying nearby or just popping by for the day, Latchi is the perfect spot for some laid-back family fun without spending a penny.

From sea swims and harbour walks to playgrounds and pebble hunting, here’s a list of our favourite free activities to do in Latchi with kids that are simple, fun, and all about making memories.

1. Let them burn off energy in the free football cage

If your children love to run around or kick a ball about, they’ll love the small enclosed football cage right near the harbour. It’s a great place for them to release some energy while you sit and take in the view.

Just don’t forget to bring a football with you—there’s no ball provided!

2. Visit the parks and play areas along the beachfront

Latchi has a beautiful, large park near the harbour with climbing frames, swings, and obstacle courses—ideal for kids of all ages. It’s surrounded by greenery and even includes a shaded bench area so adults can stay cool while the little ones play.

If you walk along the coast towards Polis Beach (to the right when facing the sea), you’ll discover even more playparks dotted along the beachfront, each offering something a little different.

3. Walk along the boardwalk and get splashed by the waves

There’s a lovely wooden boardwalk that stretches along the coast in Latchi near the harbour and a large play park. Kids will love running along it and waiting for the waves to splash up against the rocks.

If you’d rather not get soaked, there’s also a stone path set further back where you should stay dry while still enjoying the coastal views and waves.

4. Wander around the harbour and watch the boats

Latchi’s harbour is full of colourful fishing boats, tour vessels and yachts. A gentle walk around the harbour is perfect for curious little ones who enjoy seeing boats bobbing in the water and people bustling about.

And if you do fancy spending a little, there are plenty of cafés and restaurants lining the harbour and beach, perfect for an ice cream or lunch stop.

5. Swim or paddle in the calm sea

The sea in Latchi is often calm and clear, making it a safe and inviting place for families to swim. There are rock formations that act as wave breakers, so even smaller children can enjoy paddling without strong waves.

Just bring along your towels and let the kids splash about—it’s one of the simplest pleasures of a beach holiday.

6. Wave watching in the shade

Sometimes the best moments are the quiet ones. Latchi has some shady areas where you can sit, relax, and watch the waves roll in. It’s peaceful and perfect for winding down after a busy morning exploring.

7. Have a picnic on the grassy beach area

Right by the beach, you’ll find a grassy area that’s ideal for a family picnic. It’s a great alternative to eating on the sand and provides space to spread out and enjoy lunch in the sunshine (or shade).

8. Try out the outdoor fitness equipment

Near the park by the harbour, you’ll spot a small area with adult fitness machines. Older children often enjoy having a go, and it’s a fun way to get moving together.

Even better, as you continue walking towards Polis, you’ll find more fitness parks along the way, so there’s always something new to try.

Final Thoughts

Latchi might be a small coastal village, but it offers a wealth of free, family-friendly things to do, especially for those travelling with children. Whether you’re climbing, paddling, picnicking, or pebble hunting, there’s something simple and fun to do at every turn.

And the best part? There’s plenty of free parking too, which is one of the things that surprised me about Cyprus. While there are paid options near the harbour, you’ll also find free spaces near the large park and further to the left of the harbour, making it easy and affordable to spend the whole day enjoying everything Latchi has to offer.

If you’re looking for a laid-back, budget-friendly day out in Cyprus, Latchi is the perfect place to explore with your little ones.
