A Winter Wonderland: Exploring the Eden Project Christmas Lights
The Eden Project Christmas Lights is a must-see for anyone visiting Cornwall during the festive season. The Eden Project, known for its stunning biomes and lush gardens, takes on a whole new aura during the Christmas season. The two giant biomes are transformed into a magical winter wonderland, with colourful simmering lights and laser light displays creating an enchanting experience.
Upon entering the Eden Project during the Christmas season, visitors are greeted by a dazzling spectacle of lights. The biomes, which are already a sight to behold, are adorned with a myriad of colourful bulbs and intricate displays. The exterior gardens and pathways are no exception, ensuring that every corner of this eco-paradise is illuminated with seasonal magic.

The star attractions of the Eden Project, the biomes, are truly transformed during the Christmas festivities. The Tropical Biome, normally a lush rainforest, becomes a tropical oasis of lights, while the Mediterranean Biome takes on a warm and inviting glow. Walking through these illuminated wonders is an experience like no other, immersing you in a world of beauty and wonder.
The biomes are impressive enough themselves on a normal day, especially the Rainforest biome with its tropical towering trees, rope walkways and waterfall, but with the lights illuminating the palms, bamboo and other tropical plants, there’s something even more incredible about the whole experience.

As soon as you enter the Mediatarannean biome, you’re greeted by a dazzling display of lights, a true feast for the eyes lighting up the magnificent trees and foliage. There are jellyfish-looking lights dangling from the trees above and patterns of lights covering the walkways.

There’s a light-up waterfall, laser lights changing colours from the wooden hut and intriguing shapes and patterns all around as the coloured lights make the intricate details of the palm trunks stand out in a unique way.

The Rainforest biome somehow feels a little darker and more atmospheric, with laser light shows and goosebumps-inducing live music nestled in the middle of the foliage.

One of the most captivating surprises at the Eden Project Christmas Lights has to be the live music. It was an unexpected delight for us, as we had no prior knowledge of this enchanting addition to our visit. As we stepped into the Mediterranean biome, we were instantly transported into an atmospheric snow globe, bathed in moody blue tones, and surrounded by the mesmerizing glow of laser lights—all while live music filled the air.

The Eden Project Christmas Lights offer a diverse lineup of bands and singers performing throughout the evening, ensuring there’s something to suit every musical taste. It’s an unexpected treat that elevates the entire experience.
Festive Activities at the Eden Project
Beyond the captivating lights, the Eden Project offers a range of festive activities for visitors of all ages. From ice skating under the festoon-lit canopy to enjoying a hot cup of mulled wine by the fire pit, there’s something to warm the heart of every visitor.
Father Christmas usually makes an appearance at Eden each year for a unique experience with crafting, elves and sweet treats.

Ice skating at the Eden Project
We had an absolute blast ice-skating at the Eden Project. It was the first time the kids had ever ice-skated when we went to their ice-skating rink for the first time in October 2022 and we had great fun!
Our daughter found it a bit tricky, but it didn’t put her off as she wanted to go ice skating again in December!
We’ll definitely return to their ice-skating rink if they have it in 2023 or any other year while we live in Cornwall. Maybe it will become a new tradition for us, a way for our family to celebrate the joy of the season in a unique and fun way.
To help the kids they provide push-along supports in fun snowman and penguin shapes. The kids loved us pushing them along on these, like a fun ride!
