According to Bloomberg the pandemic has kick started a motorcycle boom! Sales of motorcycles had been increasing year on year, even before the pandemic and current events only intensified this increase. Year on year sales were raising 11% since 2010, but in 2020 there was a whopping 31% increase in sales compared to 2019.

It’s a huge jump and I’m certain the pandemic played a large part. Let’s take a look at 5 possible reasons why motorcycle sales are booming and probably won’t slow down any time soon.

Our 3 day London family itinerary + travel diary

Just before Christmas we went on a two night budget stay to London with the kids.

Bella, age 7, has been asking for about three years to go to London since she learned about it at school.

She was dying to see a red double decker bus!

It was one of her wishes on our family travel bucket list for 2019 and we managed to squeeze a budget trip to London in just before the year was out.

We went on a tight budget so decided to stay within walking distance of the free museums to keep our spending costs as low as possible.

We found a cheap place to stay, took a coach from our home city of Gloucester and ate as cheaply as possible with total spending money whilst there of £150 for four of us. I share the total costs of our trip in my London spending diary.

So what did we get up to?

We managed to squeeze in Buckingham Palace, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, Hyde Park and some sightseeing.

Visiting Skenfrith Castle in Wales with kids

On Saturday it was Ben’s Dad’s 70th birthday. We didn’t actually know it was his 70th, but we did know it was his birthday!

I did ask Ben how old his Dad was and he had no idea, so we had to ask.

For a treat, we picked up his Dad and his Dad’s wife and took them to explore 13th-century Skenfrith Castle with us.

Wookey Hole Caves Review (and How We Got the Kids in For Free!)

It was only one week ago that I wrote an update on our 2019 travel and days out bucket list to say we hadn’t yet done anything, though we had planned a couple of holidays at the end of the year. Well, now we have ticked something off!

We have actually ticked Ben’s ONLY item off the bucket list! It was all I could get out of him when I was writing the original blog post. Here’s the original 2019 family travel bucket list if you want to have a peek.

Here’s what Ben wanted to do in 2019:

‘Visit Wookey Hole – Ben sees an advert on the motorway for Wookey Hole on the way back from work every day and it was on Salvage Hunters so he wants to visit!’

So now we have. We had a rare day with no plans on Sunday and I really fancied a little road trip and family day out. I felt like we needed it. Most weekends are spent visiting family and friends and if they’re not, then Ben usually has a bunch of DIY-related stuff to do. He did have Bella’s bed to finish as he built her a custom loft bed a couple of weeks ago, but it can wait.

We hadn’t had a family day out since the Christmas break so we really needed one!
