Painswick Rococo Garden review and photos: things to do with kids in Gloucestershire

Yesterday was my birthday and we decided to go to an attraction that is a ten minute drive from our home, yet Ben and I had never been there despite living in Gloucestershire almost our whole lives!

In this blog post I am going to share my review of Painswick Rococo Garden. If you’re looking for things to do in Gloucestershire with kids then read on!

Circus Funtasia Review

Wow wow wow!  Get ready as in this blog post I will share my Circus Funtasia review with you.

If you follow me on Instagram then you’ll have just seen my collection of videos from today’s incredible Circus Funtasia performers and you’ll be excited to find out more about this circus in this blog review.

We were kindly offered a Circus Funtasia family ticket and we couldn’t have planned it better with the date we were able to attend being Father’s Day.  Ben was originally meant to work, but it was predicted to be a rainy weekend so he had to cancel the outdoor job he had planned.

It all worked out perfectly and we were able to spend Father’s Day together as a family with an exciting trip to the circus.

Get ready for my honest opinion of Circus Funtasia 2019 and a stack of photos!

Cheltenham Wychwood Festival review 2019

Last weekend we spent three days at Wychwood Festival which is a family-friendly event at Cheltenham Racecourse in Gloucestershire, our home county!

You may remember me mentioning it in my 2019 travel plans blog post as we actually bought early bird tickets last year, so we had this event planned for a long time.

In this blog post, I will share my honest thoughts and Wychwood festival review.

Exploring May Hill with kids in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire

I’ve really enjoyed visiting our local and nearby bluebell filled woods and forests recently. I’ve been to Buckholt Woods in Cranham, Coopers Hill Nature Reserve and May Hill in the Forest of Dean. The Gloucestershire woodlands are so pretty at this time of year covered in a sea of purple. In this blog post I’ll share some photos and my experience so far of May Hill.

A woodland walk from Coopers Hill Nature Reserve to Great Witcombe Roman Villa

I am very lucky to live somewhere surrounded by countryside. In fact, I live in a city but it doesn’t feel like it. I’m right on the outskirts and on the border of Gloucester, Stroud and Cheltenham with miles of countryside starting just a few minutes from our home on foot.  I’m going to share with you some of this countryside in this blog post from my recent walk from Coopers Hill Nature Reserve to Great Witcombe Roman Villa.

What is the Coopers Hill Cheese Rolling in Gloucestershire?

While Cheltenham in Gloucestershire is famous for its horse racing festivals, there’s another traditional festival which is a little more quirky and unusual.  It’s held annually on the May Spring Bank Holiday at Coopers Hill, just on the edge of Gloucester by Birdlip and Brockworth,  and is known as Coopers Hill Cheese Rolling.

I couldn’t not share this event with you on my travel blog as I can see it happening from my garden.  We live right next to this event and it’s crazy!

Sudeley Castle Spectacle of Light review and photos 2018

On Saturday evening we attended the Spectacle of Light event at Sudeley Castle.  It was an event I only heard of last year as a friend had attended, so after visiting the castle in the summer this year with the children, I knew I wanted to take them back to explore their light show event.  Having mentioned our plan to attend to my mum and sister, my sister thought it an excellent Christmas gift for us so she bought our tickets and we all attended together.  In this blog post I will review our family day out in Gloucestershire to Sudeley Castle for their 2018 Spectacle of Light event.

8 Free Days Out With Kids in Gloucestershire

Whilst we love exploring places far and wide, we also love exploring our home county of Gloucestershire for free family days out.

Whilst days out to attractions with kids can get quite costly with ticket prices, parking charges, meals and fuel costs, it can be much cheaper and even free to take the kids for local family days out.

In this blog post, I will share 8 of our favourite free days out with kids in Gloucestershire, followed by a list of events that have some free attractions throughout the year.
