Exploring Sennen Cove & Gwynver Beach: White Sands and Turquoise Waters in Cornwall

On Saturday, mid-August, we set off from our home in Newquay for a one-hour drive down to Sennen Cove and Gwynver Beach, just past Land’s End.

The day was warm at around 22°C, though very, very windy, so while we were comfortable in summer clothes during the day, we needed cardigans and hoodies by the evening.

These beaches had been on our list for a while. We’d only ever seen Sennen from the Land’s End Coaster bus from St Ives a couple of summers ago, so this time we wanted to properly explore on foot before meeting friends later for dinner.

Tropical Pressure Festival Review 2025: Family-Friendly Fun in Cornwall

After falling in love with Tropical Pressure Festival in 2024, we couldn’t resist returning for the 2025 edition.

Set in the beautiful surroundings of Mount Pleasant Eco Park in Cornwall, this small but vibrant world-music festival quickly became a family favourite for its friendly atmosphere, fully plant-based food offerings, and manageable size.

This year, we found the festival to be very similar to last year — and that’s a big part of its charm.

The familiar layout, activities, and overall vibe made it feel instantly welcoming.

In this review, I’ll share what Tropical Pressure is all about, what’s changed (and stayed the same) since last year, and why it remains one of our must-attend summer events.

If you’re thinking about going for the first time, this will give you a taste of what to expect.

Crantock to Polly Joke Poppy Fields: A Rainy Yet Beautiful Coastal Walk

Living in Newquay gives us the privilege of being close to some of Cornwall’s most stunning coastal walks—and one of the most breathtaking natural displays each summer: the wild poppy fields between Crantock and Polly Joke.

On 13 June, my husband and I decided to take a walk to see the poppies in bloom. We knew they were nearing their peak, as we’d spotted the vivid red fields from the East Pentire side of Newquay earlier in the week.

Sadly, the weather had other ideas, and we got absolutely drenched in a torrential downpour! Still, despite the rain, it was wonderful to get up close to the flowers again, and it reminded us how lucky we are to have them on our doorstep.

We’re sharing our route, what we saw in Crantock village, and a little about the incredible natural history behind these protected wildflower fields.

Pentewan Beach House Review: A Tiny House Holiday in Cornwall

We recently spent a weekend at the very popular Pentewan Sands Holiday Park, located on the southern coast of Cornwall in the village of Pentewan, near St Austell. This five-star resort boasts its own private sandy beach and a wide range of accommodation options.

We’re no strangers to the Pentewan holiday resort, having previously stayed twice in a mobile home and once camping in a tent—but this time we finally experienced something we’d been eyeing up for years: the Pentewan Beach House!

In this review, I’ll share our thoughts on the beach house accommodation, what we loved, what could be improved, and what’s nearby to do during your stay.

Center Parcs Longleat Review: A Family-Friendly Break in the Forest

We recently returned from a four-night family break at Center Parcs Longleat, and it was a mix of nostalgia, new experiences, and plenty of fun.

This was our second time visiting Longleat – our first trip was back in 2018 when the kids were just three and six.

A lot has changed since then, including our budget, the kids’ swimming ability, and how we holiday.

Exploring Cornwall’s Hidden Spots for the Over-40 Traveller

Cornwall is often seen through a postcard lens with golden beaches, ice cream vans, and crowded seaside towns in summer. While these are part of its charm, there’s much more waiting beyond the shoreline.

For the over-40 traveller, the quieter side of Cornwall offers a deeper experience. Whether tucked-away fishing villages, inland gardens, or quiet heritage sites, there’s a slower, more thoughtful Cornwall to enjoy once you step away from the crowds.
