Atlantic Coaster Newquay to Padstow: A Scenic Open-Top Bus Ride & Budget-Friendly Family Fun

If you’re looking for a fun and budget-friendly family outing in Cornwall, the Newquay to Padstow Coaster is a fantastic option. Recently, my family and I embarked on this scenic journey when we had visitors staying and we needed some affordable family activities to do in Newquay with our kids and their cousins. It turned out to be a memorable adventure and one I’m sure they’ll always remember when older!

We have been on the coaster before as locals, however it can get very busy in the summer, so this is the first time we enjoyed the Newquay to Padstow coaster riding up top! I’ll share tips for how best to secure your up-top seat, as well as our experience with many photos and videos of the ride below.

How We Spent 48 Hours in Helston with Kids

For the last weekend in the summer holidays, before the children went back to school, we organised a budget-friendly weekend away to Helston in Cornwall.  Me and Ben were keen to explore the Loe Bar which is an amazing natural place in Cornwall where there’s a large freshwater lake separated from the sea with just a small strip of sand, so on one side of the sand is a lake and on the other is the ocean!

Rather than just visit for a day, and thinking the kids wouldn’t be as excited about seeing this natural beauty as we were, we decided to turn it into a weekend away instead and take them to Flambards Theme Park which we hadn’t yet visited, as well as explore the town and nearby places.

We booked the Premier Inn in Helston which was super cheap (though I’m not sure I’d stay there again!) and explored Helston, Loe Bar, Porthleven and Praa Sands for two days.

If you’re wondering what you can get up to in Helston with kids for 48 hours, read on as I share our family travel itinerary.

Paulos Circus Review: 2024 Pop Show in Newquay

We had the pleasure of visiting Paulos Circus in Newquay this week for the 2024 “POP!” show, and it certainly lived up to its reputation as a fantastic family event. Having never been before, despite it being a regular summer fixture in Newquay for years, we were thrilled to finally experience it.

What made it even better was that we snagged half-price tickets earlier in the year, courtesy of Newquay Radio. We highly recommend following their Facebook page to stay updated on ticket deals for future shows.

Read on for my Paulos Circus review with lots of photos and video clips to get a taste of the experience for yourself!

Adrenalin Quarry Review: The World’s Biggest Aquapark

Last weekend, we visited Adrenalin Quarry Aquapark in Cornwall to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Accompanied by our two children, aged 9 and 12, we embarked on what turned out to be an exhilarating and unforgettable family adventure of splashing, climbing, and sliding.

According to their website, at the time of writing, it is the world’s biggest aquapark. Having found three aquaparks in total across Cornwall when picking where to go, this swayed our decision. Bigger is better, right?!

Our visit left us eager to return, as the experience was nothing short of fantastic. Read on for our honest thoughts on our experience, why we’re keen to return and our recommendations for improvements to the park.
