Agios Georgios Harbour, Pegeia: A Peaceful & Scenic Stop on the Cyprus Coast

Agios Georgios Harbour, sometimes also referred to as Pegeia Harbour, is a small but beautiful coastal spot located in the Pegeia (or Peyia) region of Cyprus. While the official Cypriot name is Pegeia, it’s more commonly written as Peyia today — and both names refer to this peaceful and picturesque area along the west coast of the island.

We visited Agios Georgios Harbour for a short stop on our way back to Villa Kambos Dio after a refreshing walk through the impressive Avakas Gorge Nature Trail. It turned out to be one of the most photogenic spots of our entire trip, and although we didn’t stay long, it definitely left a lasting impression.

Exploring Latchi Harbour, Latchi Beach and Polis Municipal Beach

By the final day of our recent family holiday to Cyprus, we realised we hadn’t yet explored Latchi and Polis — the two closest areas to our peaceful base at Villa Kambos Dio, nestled amongst citrus trees near Polis.

So we set off on a relaxed day out to enjoy the Latchi harbour, its surrounding beaches and some of the kid-friendly free things to do in Latchi.

Lara Beach, Cyprus: Family Walk and What to Expect Outside Turtle Season

If you’re exploring the unspoilt beauty of Cyprus and want to enjoy a more natural side of the island, Lara Beach is the perfect spot. Known for its protected turtle nesting grounds, this remote stretch of coastline offers raw, untouched scenery, turquoise seas, and fascinating conservation efforts. We visited Cyprus in April, outside of turtle season, and it was still one of the most memorable walks of our holiday.

Here’s everything we experienced — from the scenic mountain drive to the bottlecap jellyfish, and why visiting Lara Beach with kids is just as magical even when the turtles aren’t nesting.

Nerja, Spain: A Half-Day Visit for Vegan Eats & Beach Fun

We recently visited Spain to see family in Sedella, a beautiful white mountain village, and stayed about 30 minutes away in Carraspite. Since we were surrounded by mountains, we wanted to experience one of the nearby beach regions during our stay.

For a quick half-day trip, we headed to Nerja, a well-known coastal town famous for its scenic beaches, vibrant town centre, and stunning viewpoints. We indulged in some vegan junk food, explored beaches, let the kids enjoy play areas on the sand, and wandered through the picturesque streets.

Here’s what we got up to during our short visit—along with plenty of photos to help you get a feel for Nerja yourself!

How We Spent 48 Hours in Helston with Kids

For the last weekend in the summer holidays, before the children went back to school, we organised a budget-friendly weekend away to Helston in Cornwall.  Me and Ben were keen to explore the Loe Bar which is an amazing natural place in Cornwall where there’s a large freshwater lake separated from the sea with just a small strip of sand, so on one side of the sand is a lake and on the other is the ocean!

Rather than just visit for a day, and thinking the kids wouldn’t be as excited about seeing this natural beauty as we were, we decided to turn it into a weekend away instead and take them to Flambards Theme Park which we hadn’t yet visited, as well as explore the town and nearby places.

We booked the Premier Inn in Helston which was super cheap (though I’m not sure I’d stay there again!) and explored Helston, Loe Bar, Porthleven and Praa Sands for two days.

If you’re wondering what you can get up to in Helston with kids for 48 hours, read on as I share our family travel itinerary.
