Family Travel Diary: One Week in Rhodes October 2025 (Beaches, History & Vegan Delights)

Our October 2025 trip to Rhodes was packed with adventure, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences.

From ancient sites to beaches and delicious vegan meals, here’s a detailed roundup of our days on this Greek island, with links to each place we visited.

Day 1 – Arrival

We arrived late in the evening, so the first day was all about getting settled at our Zen Club Luxury Villa in Kolymbia.

The villa, nestled between the hills, was peaceful, offering spectacular views of Tsambika Mountain. It was a calming start after our flight.

We didn’t venture far that night as we arrived in the evening, but we were eager to explore the island in the coming days, knowing the adventure was about to begin.

Day 2 – Villa Chill & Local Discoveries

The second day was perfect for unwinding. After a chilly but refreshing swim in the villa pool, we decided to explore a bit.

First stop: finding a supermarket. It was Sunday, so options were limited and the first we drove to was closed on a Sunday, but we eventually found a smaller one and stocked up on essentials like pasta and noodles for a simple dinner.

The evening brought a peaceful walk along the beach as the sun dipped below the horizon, though it got dark by 6:30 pm, making it a short stroll.

On the way back, we discovered Rhodos Nuts, a small health food store operating from a pickup truck. We grabbed some dried mango, dates, and a selection of nuts to snack on. It was the perfect little surprise on our wanderings.

The villa had an excellent view of Tsambika Mountain, and we even saw a few goats grazing on the mountain’s slopes.

The wildlife around the villa was fascinating too – a locust, a praying mantis, a peacock, and a small lizard kept us entertained in our villa garden.

Day 3 – Exploring Rhodes Old Town & Vegan Lunch

On day three, we set out to explore Rhodes Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site that’s brimming with medieval charm. We wandered through narrow streets lined with ancient buildings, cobblestone alleys, and vibrant marketplaces.

The architecture was stunning, and we even discovered quiet corners where time seemed to stand still with buskers filling the air with music that echoed through the ancient castle walls.

We explored the Palace of the Grand Master, one of the most impressive landmarks in the Old Town, and took in the views from the ancient city walls.

In the afternoon, we headed to ONO, a fantastic vegan restaurant in the New Town of Rhodes. The menu featured a variety of plant-based dishes, and we enjoyed a meal full of fresh, delicious flavours. The restaurant’s atmosphere was lively, and it was the perfect spot to recharge after a day of exploring.

Day 4 – Seven Springs, Storms & Mini Golf

We had planned to work in the morning and visit Seven Springs (Epta Piges) in the afternoon, but the morning weather was too beautiful to spend indoors. Instead, we spent a few hours by the pool at the villa before a quick lunch.

Just as we finished, the weather took a dramatic turn, and a huge thunderstorm rolled in. We watched as the rain poured down and lightning lit up the sky for nearly two hours!

Once the storm cleared, we finally made it to Seven Springs. The area is famous for its natural springs and lush greenery. Ben and Reuben went through a small dark tunnel through the mountain!

The surrounding nature was lush and peaceful, full of muscovy ducks and peacocks! We spent some time exploring, then relaxing with drinks and smoothies at the Seven Springs Taverna.

In the evening, we headed to a local mini golf course in Kolymbia with arcade games for a fun family outing. The kids had a great time, and we all enjoyed a casual pub-style dinner there.

Day 5 – Lindos Exploration

Day five was all about Lindos, one of Rhodes’ most picturesque villages. It’s a place of whitewashed houses, narrow winding streets, and a fantastic acropolis overlooking the sea.

The weather was perfect for exploring – cloudy, with a cool breeze, which made it ideal for wandering the cobbled streets and exploring the famous Acropolis.

We hiked up to the Lindos Acropolis, which offered stunning views over the village and the sea.

Afterwards, we spent time discovering the village’s charming shops and enjoying the views from the top of the hill. Lindos is one of those places where every corner offers a photo opportunity, and there’s a great vibe.

Day 6 – Tsambika Beach

Day six was dedicated to Tsambika Beach, one of the nicest beaches on the island. Though we had initially planned to visit the aqua park, which they have in the sea here, it wasn’t open on the day we visited.

Instead, we rented sunbeds and spent a few hours soaking up the sun with drinks and food service directly to our sun loungers! The kids had a blast with a new kiwi slice lilo, playing in the shallow waves for hours.

For lunch, we enjoyed pittas, salads, gyros, and fries – classic Greek beach fare. The service was fantastic, and we also sipped cocktails while lounging under the sun. The waitress was super friendly, and everything was ordered from and brought over to our sunbeds!

Tsambika Beach is ideal for families, with its shallow waters, relaxed atmosphere and great service.

Day 7 – Kolymbia Beach, Navarone Bay & T Veg Dinner

On day seven, we planned to hire a boat at Kolymbia Beach, but unfortunately, the sea was too choppy when we arrived, so there was no boat or pedalo hire available that day – typical! Every other day the sea had been so calm!

We decided to visit Navarone Bay instead, a beautiful spot with calm waters and stunning views, which we’d visited by boat the year before when on holiday in Rhodes. The area is secluded and seemed perfect for swimming and relaxing away from the crowds.

We weren’t quite as impressed by the beach as we were by the turquoise waters we had visited by boat previously! Read the blog article below to learn why.

Afterwards, we made our way to St. Paul’s Bay, a picturesque cove with crystal-clear water and serene surroundings. It’s another beautiful place to enjoy a swim, or relax on loungers, or eat in the restaurant by the sea.

In the evening, we returned to Lindos for dinner at T Veg, a fantastic vegan restaurant. The rooftop terrace offered beautiful views of the surrounding area lit up at night, and the food was delicious. We had a variety of dishes, and highly rate T-Veg for their food, which is amazingly ALL vegan-friendly and so delicious!

Day 8 – Agios Nektarios Church, Toy Museum & Farewell

On our last day in Rhodes, we took the time to visit a few more spots before heading to the airport as our flight wasn’t until the evening.

First, we stopped at Agios Nektarios Church, a serene and peaceful site nestled in the hills with a hollow tree you can go inside!

Afterwards, we made our way to the Rhodes Toy Museum, where we got nostalgic with some retro arcade games. The museum was a fun and quirky stop, and it brought back memories of childhood games.

Before we left Rhodes for the airport back home, we visited a couple of beaches and a taverna for lunch. While exploring in our hire car, we made a random stop at a sports stadium called Camelot Castle, which was an unexpected yet fun discovery.

We saw a castle from the road and decided to go explore. It seemed abandoned, but I found images online of people having volleyball tournaments here once upon a time. It was a strange place, overgrown, not really a castle, but designed like one, for sports, but it didn’t seem in use.

Finally, we made our way to the airport, leaving Rhodes behind, but knowing we would be back one day, especially to explore more of Lindos, which has so many restaurants and bars to try! We also want to go back to T-Veg to try more of their extensive vegan menu!

A Final Word

Rhodes in October 2025 was everything we hoped for and more. From ancient ruins and charming villages to stunning beaches and delicious vegan meals, each day brought something new. We managed to tick a few things off our Rhodes bucket list, things we hadn’t managed to have time to see on our previous family holiday to Rhodes the year before.

In 2025, whether we were exploring the historical streets of Rhodes Old Town, soaking up the sun at Tsambika Beach, or enjoying a meal at T Veg in Lindos, we loved every minute of it.

We can’t wait to return to explore more of Lindos and to swim in St Paul’s Bay, visit the Tsambika Monastery, as well as venture to the south of the island to walk across the sand bank, and take a boat trip to Symi island too.

Again, just like on our 2024 family holiday to Rhodes, we ran out of time to see everything we wanted to in 2025, so we will have to return once more to complete our exploration of this Greek island!
