Adrenalin Quarry Review: The World’s Biggest Aquapark

Last weekend, we visited Adrenalin Quarry Aquapark in Cornwall to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Accompanied by our two children, aged 9 and 12, we embarked on what turned out to be an exhilarating and unforgettable family adventure of splashing, climbing, and sliding.

According to their website, at the time of writing, it is the world’s biggest aquapark. Having found three aquaparks in total across Cornwall when picking where to go, this swayed our decision. Bigger is better, right?!

Our visit left us eager to return, as the experience was nothing short of fantastic. Read on for our honest thoughts on our experience, why we’re keen to return and our recommendations for improvements to the park.

First Impressions and Initial Concerns

From the moment we arrived, the excitement was noticeable. The kids were buzzing and keen to get to the Aquapark after seeing photos and videos when we booked online. The sheer scale of the Aquapark was mind-blowing, and it was clear that we were in for a treat!

Upon arrival, an hour before our 11 am timeslot, the bustling activity around the buoyancy aid distribution and safety briefing area initially made us worry about overcrowding. However, we needn’t have been concerned!

The size of the world’s largest aquapark ensured there was enough space for everyone to enjoy the various attractions without feeling cramped.

The Aquapark Experience: Fun for All

The 45-minute session flew by in a blur of adrenaline-fuelled fun. The variety of obstacles and slides kept our kids entertained throughout. Our kids were in their element, clambering over the aquapark, bouncing on trampolines, and jumping into the quarry water to splash and cool down.

I loved the thrill of the swing, which catapulted you into the refreshing quarry water as well as the straight slides, though I didn’t get the chance to try the one with the lip that flings you into the air. My husband, however, did try it and absolutely loved it, along with the highest platforms for jumping into the water!

When the safety team blew a long whistle and announced only five minutes left, it felt as though we had just begun, surely we’d only been here for 20 minutes?! This was a testament to how much fun we were having; time truly flies when you’re enjoying yourself.

SO much fun and plenty of space for everyone to enjoy.

After the Aquapark: A Bite To Eat

Post-adventure, we enjoyed some downtime on the grass area by the quarry, which has a section cordoned off for swimming.

We grabbed a bite from the Snack Shack, where my daughter and I had jacket potatoes with beans, a bargain at £2.99 each. However, it was the only vegan option available. For vegetarian and vegan guests, I would suggest the inclusion of more plant-based choices, such as a vegan sausage roll, on the menu. I hope they consider expanding their menu to cater to a wider range of dietary requirements.

Practical Considerations

The aquapark is designed for those aged 6 and over who can swim at least 25 metres and there is plenty for everyone to enjoy.

The cost for our family of four was meant to be £80 (£20 per person), but we used a local voucher that gave us £1 off per person, bringing the total to £76. While this might seem steep, the experience was worth every penny. For those planning a visit, there are early bird tickets available for the 10 am session, which we plan to take advantage of on our next visit.

Although everyone is provided with a buoyancy aid, we opted to bring our own wetsuits. Given the warm July day and the quarry water at a comfortable 20 degrees Celsius, swimwear alone would have been fine and many people were in their swimming costumes without wetsuits.

They did have wetsuits available for sale if you wish to purchase one, and outside of peak season, they can be hired.
