London on a budget is totally possible, even if you’re travelling with kids, so long as you’re willing to make some sacrifices and take advantage of the free things you can do in London.
In this blog post I reveal our spending diary as a family of four in London for three days. Continue reading “Spending diary for our budget family holiday to London. 3 days, 4 people, only £350!”
Just before Christmas we went on a two night budget stay to London with the kids.
Bella, age 7, has been asking for about three years to go to London since she learned about it at school.
She was dying to see a red double decker bus!
It was one of her wishes on our family travel bucket list for 2019 and we managed to squeeze a budget trip to London in just before the year was out.
We went on a tight budget so decided to stay within walking distance of the free museums to keep our spending costs as low as possible.
We found a cheap place to stay, took a coach from our home city of Gloucester and ate as cheaply as possible with total spending money whilst there of £150 for four of us. I share the total costs of our trip in my London spending diary.
So what did we get up to?
We managed to squeeze in Buckingham Palace, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, Hyde Park and some sightseeing.
Here’s a look at our family London itinerary for three days and our photos and videos. Continue reading “Our 3 day London family itinerary + travel diary”
For the second year running we attended the Sudeley Castle Spectacle of Light show.
We went last year for the Alice in Wonderland light show. This year the theme was Peter Pan.
Sudeley Castle is in Winchcombe, Cheltenham. It’s in our home county of Gloucestershire so not far for us to travel at all.
Below is my review of Sudeley Castle Spectacle of Light and loads of photos of the magnificent 2019 light show! Continue reading “Sudeley Castle Spectacle of Light review + photos 2019”
Wondering how much a family holiday to Cornwall in October costs for four people? I’ll reveal exactly how much we spent in October 2019 on our Cornish beach holiday for seven days.
We recently spent the October half term in Cornwall staying at Pentewan Sands 5-star holiday resort. We tried to be careful with what we spent, but we had a few treats. I was always mindful of what we were spending and kept a holiday spending diary so we could keep track of our budget. Read on to see how much we spent. In this blog post I’ll share a little about our recent visit to the beach at West Portholland in Cornwall. You’ll also find lots of our travel photos and a video of the day at the end of this travel blog post.
Portholland is a special place to my husband Ben as it’s where his Dad’s best friend lives. Ben’s Dad is originally from Cornwall but moved away from Cornwall as an adult and has since lived in a few different locations. His best friend, Trounce, has always stayed in Cornwall.
Trounce is a farmer in West Portholland and we have visited him and his wife every time we’ve been to Cornwall. Ben has fond memories of visiting every summer as a child and now visits with his own children to make even more amazing memories! In this blog post I will share my Pentewan Sands Holiday Park review and lots of photos at the end. Pentewan Sands is a holiday resort in Cornwall with a privately owned beach called Pentewan Sands beach. Continue reading “Cornwall with kids: Pentewan Sands Holiday Park review”
In this blog post I will share our quick visit to Polperro in Cornwall and our photos.
We worked out this is our fourth time to Cornwall (since me and Ben have been together). We’d been for a short trip before kids to Perranporth and stayed in Ben’s tiny tent. When Bella was perhaps one or two we stayed in The Victoria Hotel in Newquay. Two years ago we stayed for one week in the middle of North Cornwall somewhere and this time we have stayed for a week at Pentewan Sands Holiday Park.
Whilst I can’t really remember too much about the first two trips, we have typically had the worst weather on both our week long stays! Continue reading “Cornwall with kids: Polperro”
On our recent trip to Cornwall we managed a quick stop at Porthluney Beach. See our photos and videos at the end of this blog post of Porthluney Beach.
The day we went to Porthluney Beach was very wet and windy. Typically we had a storm that lasted two and a half days during our Cornwall holiday with high winds and heavy rain. It was non stop for nearly half our holiday!
We managed around 30 minutes on Porthluney Beach before we were all absolutely drenched, even with waterproofs and wellies! Continue reading “Cornwall with kids: Porthluney Beach”
