Agios Georgios Harbour, sometimes also referred to as Pegeia Harbour, is a small but beautiful coastal spot located in the Pegeia (or Peyia) region of Cyprus. While the official Cypriot name is Pegeia, it’s more commonly written as Peyia today — and both names refer to this peaceful and picturesque area along the west coast of the island.
We visited Agios Georgios Harbour for a short stop on our way back to Villa Kambos Dio after a refreshing walk through the impressive Avakas Gorge Nature Trail. It turned out to be one of the most photogenic spots of our entire trip, and although we didn’t stay long, it definitely left a lasting impression.
A Peaceful Harbour with a Natural Backdrop
Set within the bay of Saint George, Agios Georgios Harbour is known for its calm, clear waters and natural surroundings. The water sparkled under the late afternoon sun when we visited, and the skies had just enough dramatic cloud cover to create an atmospheric contrast for photos — especially with the rays of light streaking through.

The harbour is small and traditional, with a few colourful fishing boats bobbing in the water and a short quay you can walk along to admire the view. Nearby, you can spot Geronisos Island just off the coast — a striking little landform that adds to the wild beauty of the scene.

There’s a café on-site if you fancy a drink with a view, and we also noted that parking was free — always a bonus! It’s worth mentioning that we’ve come across lots of free parking spots across Cyprus, something that surprised us on our first visit and made getting around very straightforward.

Agios Georgios Beach and Rocky Views
To the right of the harbour is Agios Georgios Beach, but we found ourselves more drawn to the left-hand side — a rocky, rugged coastal area filled with weathered boulders and blooming wildflowers. This side felt more natural and less touched by tourism, offering dramatic views out to sea and over the cliffside, with the waves gently lapping at the rocks.

It’s the kind of place that makes you want to pause and soak in the beauty — and capture it on camera! With the sea, the sun rays, the moody sky and the scattered blooms, it felt like nature had staged the perfect scene.

A Quick Visit (With Tired Kids in Tow)
While I could have easily stayed longer, sat on a rock with a coffee just watching the light dance over the sea, our kids had other ideas. After a few days of exploring — including the Baths of Aphrodite to Blue Lagoon coastal hike and a wild adventure around Lara Point and Lara Beach — our ten-year-old son was ready to head back and chill at the villa. Fair enough, as we had packed in quite a bit of walking and nature spotting already.

So we made the most of our short visit, snapped some scenic shots, admired the landscape, and took in the fresh coastal air before heading back to our base in Polis.

Final Thoughts
Agios Georgios Harbour might not be the most famous stop on a Cyprus itinerary, but it’s certainly one of the most visually rewarding. It’s peaceful, naturally beautiful, and offers a moment of quiet reflection — or the chance to take some really lovely photos. If you’re passing through the Pegeia region or exploring the west coast of Cyprus, it’s well worth a visit.

We’re so glad we made the stop — even if just for a short while. Next time, I’d love to go back for longer, maybe with a picnic and a bit more time to explore the coastline on foot.
