The best vegan junk food in Woolacombe!

We recently went to Woolacombe Beach in Devon for the first time. On returning from our recent trip exploring the likes of Daymer Bay and Crantock Beach for a week in Cornwall, we stopped for two nights in Ilfracombe Devon.

We were otherwise driving back on Ben’s birthday for three and a half hours, so when planning our holiday, I asked if he wanted to stop anywhere halfway home. Having not been to Woolacombe before, he suggested stopping here for a night or so.

There was no accommodation available in Woolacombe, but nearby Ilfracombe had an Airbnb cottage which was perfect. Another place we hadn’t been to yet in Devon and could also explore.

Woolacombe Beach

We’ve heard of Woolacombe beach so many times with plenty of family and friends being regular visitors, but it was our first visit ever! With three miles of golden sand and surf-friendly waves, it’s been voted best beach 2021 by The Sunday Times.

The kids loved climbing the rocks to the edge of the beach, as well as racing up and down the sand dunes a short walk along the beach from the main carpark.

The beach has plenty of lifeguard cover, so it’s also perfect for a splash about in the water, though we only had a splash about in the shallow waters after a nonstop week of being in the water in Cornwall already!

With carparking right up to the beach, restaurants and shops galore, sandy sand and clear waters, it’s a great family-friendly seaside resort in north Devon.

Carparking was £10 at the time of our visit for the whole day.

Gobblebox vegan junk food in Woolacombe

When we go on holiday we turn into complete junk food vegans! Luckily Woolacombe did not disappoint for vegans on the go and the first place we discovered for lunch was Gobblebox.

We had delicious vegan burgers with crunchy slaw on which was amazing.

The burgers were very filling and we definitely didn’t need the side of fries we’d each ordered! We had some of the vegan cheesy fries which had smoked vegan slices melted all over – naughty and delicious!

Their opening hours were a bit random when we were there due to covid, but luckily they were open for lunch the day we visited.

Stoned vegan pizza in Woolacombe

Being Ben’s birthday we had another vegan junk food for dinner! This time we went to Stoned which is in the large carpark near the beach.

Currently open from 5pm-9pm daily (although they say to get their early as they will close if they sell out or are quiet), this is a vegan pizza not to be missed. They have many vegan options and they are delicious!

We saw the van when parking for the day and knew it looked cool. From the great name to the fun looking branding, we went back for evening pizzas sat overlooking the beach and enjoyed every bite.

They have a lot of negative reviews on TripAdvisor as I write this, but our pizzas were cooked just fine and delicious. Loved the music and atmosphere of the van, and all the staff were friendly. There was a queue and wait whilst the pizzas were freshly cooked, but not a problem on a sunny day with their music entertaining us.

They have a website here so you can find out more about their locations and opening times: https://www.stoned.org.uk/

  1. The beaches look beautiful, I have been not since I was a child . But vegan snd veggie food is definitely the way to go

  2. Wow the food all looks and sounds absolutely delicious, especially the burger!
I live in Rural Aberdeenshire and there isn’t any food places like this.
Fingers crossed for the near future though.
