Best things to do in Guernsey for couples

Guernsey is the second largest island of the Channel Islands full of beautiful countryside and coastline.  It’s a beautiful holiday destination not far from the UK which is not actually part of the UK as it self-governs, but it’s said to feel very British.  Whether you are planning a romantic getaway with your better half to Guernsey or you are lucky enough to live on this island already and need some inspiration for a date idea, here are some of the best things to do in Guernsey for couples.

Take a romantic hike

Guernsey dating is easy with the vast countryside it has to offer.  Only 15% of the land has been built upon, leaving a plenty of gorgeous natural landscape to explore, with beautiful backdrops of scenery just perfect for a romantic day together.  Pack a picnic and stroll along taking in the surroundings talking about your dreams and aspirations as you wander.

Hop on a ferry

There’s nothing like the fresh ocean breeze!  The Sark Shipping Company is a 55 minute ferry journey from Guernsey to the smaller island of Sark allowing visitors and residents alike to travel between the two islands.  The only way to Sark is by ferry.

Choose a dreamy hotel

There are lots of hotels in Guernsey, some are in the main towns, but for the ultimate romantic getaway choose a hotel in the centre of the island surrounded by nature.  Le Friquet Country Hotel, for example, has six acres of beautiful gardens surrounding the hotel, luxury modern ensuite bedrooms and an outdoor swimming pool.  It’s the ideal retreat for couples, who highly rate it on booking sites.  If you prefer to stay in the hustle and bustle, then Old Government House Hotel in the heart of St. Peter Port is the islands only five-star hotel boasting panoramic sea views.

Have a road trip to see the whole island

Guernsey is not a large island and you can drive round the whole island in one hour!  This makes it great for a road trip to see as many of the sites as possible, even in just one day!  If you are looking for a date to join you then try Guernsey dating where you can meet other singles from Guernsey.  Why not have a break from driving and use Tour Guernsey for your very own private tour of the island, so you can sit back with your date and relax?  Or see the island from see with a coastal tour.

Visit The Little Chapel

Built originally by Brother Déodat in 1914, The Little Chapel is a miniature version of the Rosary Basilica in Lourdes.  This replica is made from thousands of pieces of broken china, pebbles and seashells.  You can visit this remarkable place of worship for free or leave a donation if you wish.

Wander around St. Peter Port

The main town on Guernsey is St. Peter Port where you can take a leisurely stroll with your date through the cobbled streets, stopping at a café or two for a warm drink whilst watching the world go by.

  1. Beautiful pictures, A couple trip away would be perfect! There looks to be so many things to do in Guernsey, I like the idea of going for a hike or hopping on to a Ferry, wonderful.

  2. The channel islands may not be a proper part of the UK but I wonder if they count as a staycation? My favourite place to holiday in the UK is Loch Inver in Scotland which is a long long way from us in Oxford, but does Loch Inver count as a staycation when Paris is closer?
