Reasons to visit Liverpool

According to a recent study, 40% of millennials choose their travel destinations based on how ‘Instagrammable’ they are.  It was ranked the most important factor when it comes to travel for those under 33 years of age.

With this in mind, Liverpool ONE has launched a #VIPliverpool campaign, that’s ‘Very Instagrammable Places’ in Liverpool.  They absolutely love the city and have provided information on the most Instagram-worthy places in the city.

In this blog post I am going to explore some of the best reasons to visit Liverpool and where you can find the most Instagram worthy photo locations.

Why you should visit Liverpool

Why you should visit Liverpool

I’ve never been to Liverpool before.  In fact, there are so many UK cities and places that I am yet to explore, it’s crazy. I always feel like my life is slipping away far too quickly and I’m not seeing as many places as I should be.  I think I need to up my game and add a few UK cities to my yearly travel bucket lists.

Liverpool is most famous for being the birthplace of The Beatles, but it also has so much more on offer from art to culture to beaches.  Yes, beaches!  It seems to be a buzzing city with lots of entertainment.  You can find out what’s going on and plan your trip to Liverpool by checking out what’s on in Liverpool ONE.

Here are the reasons the internet tells me I must visit Liverpool one day:

Beaches

Yes this is my top reason!  I am a big fan of beaches and especially those which are lined with natural beauty.  Nearby Formby Beach is lined with dramatic sand dunes and pine woods.  It’s large and sandy.  It looks beautiful.

Street art

There are lots of cool sculptures and art installations such as ‘A Case History’ by John King to see dotted around Liverpool.  They have a big street art scene including lots of famous graffiti.

Festivals

Liverpool is home to lots of jam-packed music and art festivals such as Liverpool International Music Festival, Africa Oye Festival, Liverpool Biennial, Liverpool Street Art Festival and more.  They also have the first established Chinatown in Europe so it’s a great place to celebrate Chinese New Year.

Architecture

Liverpool has some incredible historical architecture from the very grand St George’s Hall to the listed warehouses at Albert Dock.  This is juxtaposed with some of the most modern and newest architecture such as the Museum of Liverpool which opened in 2011 with a bold edgy design.  There’s also Speke Hall on the outskirts of the city which is from the 1500s!

Food

Being vegan I am pleased to see so many independent vegan eateries in Liverpool!  Finding vegan restaurants always makes me super excited!  Here’s just a small selection of the vegan restaurants in Liverpool that other websites highly recommend: Mowgli, Sanskruti, The Old Hardware Shop, Down The Hatch, The Garden By LEAF, The Caledonia and The Egg Café.  These are just a small selection of eateries that are vegan/veggie or offer those options!

Just researching Liverpool on the net is making me want to book a visit to explore this fabulous city for myself!  Have you ever been to Liverpool?  I’d love to know your thoughts.  Leave me a message in the comments!
